What is Fill Power? A measure of down quality based on the volume one ounce of down occupies when fully fluffed.
Fill power is measured in cubic inches per ounce. Higher fill power means more warmth per ounce. 550-600 fill is budget down. 650-700 fill is mainstream quality. 750-800 fill is premium for serious winter use. 850+ fill is ultralight expedition grade. Higher fill power costs more but produces lighter, more compressible jackets. For most urban winter wear, 600-700 fill is adequate.
