What to Wear in Seattle
Seattle's reputation for rain is mostly true — it rains ~150 days per year. The reputation for cold is overstated. The real Seattle climate is mild, gray, and damp. The right wardrobe is built around water-resistant outerwear, layered fabrics, and quality footwear.

Local tips
Locals do not use umbrellas — they use hoods. A water-resistant breathable jacket is the most useful single garment in Seattle. Light rain (Seattle's typical) demands a different jacket than heavy rain (a Gore-Tex shell with sealed seams).
