UPF
Ultraviolet Protection Factor — a rating system for the UV-blocking ability of fabric.
What is UPF? Ultraviolet Protection Factor — a rating system for the UV-blocking ability of fabric.
UPF rates how much ultraviolet radiation a fabric blocks. UPF 30 blocks about 97% of UV. UPF 50+ blocks 98%+. UPF clothing is most useful for sustained outdoor activity in high-UV conditions (UV 8+). Technical sun shirts, fishing shirts, and beach cover-ups often carry UPF ratings. Untreated white cotton t-shirts have about UPF 5 — not much protection.
