What is GSM? Grams per square meter — a measure of fabric weight.
GSM (grams per square meter) is the standard measure of fabric weight. For merino wool: 140-180 gsm is lightweight (hot weather), 180-200 gsm is mid-weight (three-season), 250-350 gsm is heavyweight (cold weather). For cotton t-shirts: 150-180 gsm is lightweight, 180-200 gsm is standard, 220-260 gsm is heavyweight. Higher GSM means warmer, more durable, less breathable.
