What is Peacoat? A short, double-breasted wool coat originally designed for sailors.
A peacoat is a heavyweight wool coat, typically hip-length, double-breasted, with broad lapels. Originally worn by European and American sailors. The naval design includes wide lapels (to button across in cold winds) and large pockets. Modern peacoats are excellent fall and moderate-winter outerwear, especially for office wear that needs a sharper look than a parka.
