What is Selvedge Denim? Denim woven on traditional shuttle looms, producing a self-finished edge.
Selvedge denim is woven on old-style shuttle looms that produce a tight, clean edge — the selvedge — typically visible in the inseam cuff of jeans. Selvedge production is slower and more expensive than modern denim manufacturing. Selvedge jeans are typically heavier (12-16 oz), stiffer at first, and develop distinctive fading and creasing with wear.
